This weekend, a number of Cowtown's best will venture to the Okoboji 15's
Tournament, the premier mid-June 15-a-side tournament in all of northwest Iowa. Playing in
the Pink and Blue of the Cowtown United National Touring Side, they will combine with
their brethren of Storm Lake, Iowa RFC to mount an attack not seen since the sloths of the
late Mesazoic era left the safety of the trees to become ground sloths. Like a pack of
ravenous three-toed ground sloths foraging for nuts and berries, they look to score at
will with their lightning quick moves and deceptive speed. Full details will be available
soon.

Sorry for the web problems of the last
few days. I'm trying to use FrontPage 98 to make things easier, but unfortunately, it
assumes everyone is an idiot. My simple, but important web configurations are blown away

Although I much rather Rugby League (its far more popular than union in oz, I still
follow union. This is one of the best set up sites I have seen. It may interest you to
know that very few large Sydney clubs have a web site. My side Gordon certainly doesn't.
Also, are you aware of the current controversy regarding England and Scotland sending
understrength teams to Australia this year? Scotland's 2nd string team just got creamed by
30 in Fiji. I would be happy to answer any league or union questions about Australia.

Fort Worth finished their season this weekend with a loss to Worcester RFC (MA)
34-23. Worcester jumped to a quick 24-5 lead in the first 20 minutes, and it took a
courageous effort on Fort Worth's part to cut the lead to 24-20 in the second half. After
threatening to score for 15 minutes, the game ended with a try by Worcester on a
picked-off pass to extend the lead to 34-23. Fort Worth then won the consolation game
41-29 on Sunday against the Greenville Griffins, while Worcester defeated Huntington
Beach, the 1997 Champions 31-30, advancing them to the final four. Full results will be
available soon.
Thanks to all the well-wishers who have expressed their support verbally and on this page.

I remember the game between the Quins and Dromore. It was a fantastic match (possibly
the best final in the Cowtown's history). At game time, it was 90 degrees and the heat was
killing the Irish side. The Quin's pack was excellent and dominated possesion early on.
Dallas' outside half was really switched on and kept Dromore pinned in their own end ( I'm
not sure but it might have been Mark Gale). At half time,Quins were ahead by 10 or 12.But
out of nowhere, the wind changed and a storm blew over the pitch. The temperature must have
dropped 30 degrees. The Irish came to life and it became a fantastic battle with Dromore
taking the victory late with a long try by the winger. That years trophy was the best
award we ever presented.( a huge Longhorn head with our logo painted on the forehead ).
Ihope it has a prominent place in a bar somewhere!

Pat, most of my comments are in the form of a question. Just curious what others think in

What's not surprising is that, once again, the TRU got screwed by the WRU.
Apparently the other members of the WRU (save ERRFU) can't compete with Texas, so they use
political means to screw the TRU. The TRU will never get a fair shake until they leave the
WRU and form their own territory, and leave the WRU to its impotent mediocrity. Once this
is accomplished, ERRFU won't be far behind.

Mike your article on cheating was excellent. The integrity of the game is besmirched
when people our allowed to circumvent the rules with no fear of retribution.I know for
years that we always tried to do the right thing and it is sad matches can not be decided
fairly on the pitch adhering to current USARFU rules. I for one have said USARFU collects
money but does not hold up its end of the deal. Until clubs unite and force USARFU to
require all clubs to follow the rules then clubs like Fort Worth will continue to
encounter this type of dishonest activity. Cheers for a well written and thoughtful piece.

Charging at the entrance was the lamest of the many lame things at TRU's. Houston
RFC is the "Not Ready for Prime- Time Club" when it comes to championship
events. The trophies sucked, the fields were shit (they used sprinklers, but unfortunately
it was during a match on Saturday), you couldn't bring beer into the park (BUT YOU COULD
BUY IT FROM HOUSTON RFC!) All in all, the lamest TRU's yet. Thanks HRFC!

Excellent Bots! Didn't know this was here. I'll try not to fill it with
"Silliness" as you put it. I still think Fort Worth is a first division caliber
club. I'd like to see Fort Worth against the Quinns. I read the article that Kwedar wrote
about cheating. Well written. I didn't realize he was an articulate person. I have to
admit that I thought Fort Worth was guilty of fielding too many foreigners. After reading
that article, I am somehow conviced that it is not so. Some of you may know that Kwedar
and I have had a feud going since last season when I "rucked" Warren in the
head. I do not blame many of you for being pissed at me for my actions. What I did was
wrong. One thing Kwedar would never accept is the fact that the "ruck" was in
retaliation to one of numerous "rucks" by Warren to myself and other members of
my club which I witnessed. If Warren remembers, after he "got" Phil Shoppe in
the head in that same game, I told him I had seen enough. Reading that article somehow
made me feel wrong for what I did although at the time the reasoning felt so right. If you
read this Kwedar, maybe you will understand. If not, we can continue the bantering that
has been going on for a year now. I can be very annoying, can't I? Anyway, good luck to
Fort Worth in the TRU's (except second side), the Westerns and hopefully the Nationals.
Who would not want a team from their own division to go all the way?
