Here`s a quote that I think is also appropriate. It applies to those scum-sucking gutless cowardly "peace" protesters who crawl out of the sewer when America is in crisis:
"There`s no such thing as life without bloodshed. I think the notion that the species can be improved in some way, that everyone could live in harmony, is a really dangerous idea. Those who are afflicted with this notion are the first ones to give up their souls, their freedom. Your desire that it be that way will enslave you and make your life vacuous."

Nice web site. I would like to leave a quote that is appropriate for the times....

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest thing; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing worth a war is worse ... A man who has nothing which he cares about more than his personal safety is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the extertions of better men than himself.

Along with Mark Bingham, Jeremy Glick also struggled with the cowardly hijackers on UA Flight 93. Glick was a Judo Champion and a former member of the Univ. of Rochester rugby club.

Alex Goff (www.goffonrugby.com) reports that the toll on clubs in the New York area continues to grow. Particulary hit hard was NYAC, a final-four finisher from 2001 that was recently promoted to the Super League.

Please take a moment at your next club gathering to remember our fallen brothers.

Confirmed dead:
Mark Bingham, San Francisco Fog RFC
Jeremy Glick, University of Rochester RFC Alum

Missing:
Matt Burke, Xavier alum, brother of NYRFC president Paul Burke
Tommy Knox, New Jersey RFC
Mark Ludvigsen, NYAC President
Sean Lugano, NYAC
Terry McShane, Former Long Island RFC
Nick Rowe, Manhattan RFC
Mike Stewart, former Old Blue captain

Mark Bingham, U of Cal Alumni and Rugger for Golden Bears Rugby:

The Fort Worth Rugby Football Club wish to express our condolences for the loss of Mark Bingham. We will never know for sure what transpired, but we choose to believe with good reason that Mark showed the true spirit and courage that is the finest in those who make rugby a part of their life. We salute him and thank him as citizens for the heroic action he likely took. In the realm of things it seems embarrassingly trite, but our club had a moment of silence in memorey of Mark Bingham during our practice last night.

Pub tonight instead of practice is at Bull and Bush at 2300 Montgomery Street (about 4 blocks North of I-30). Nick, the barkeep use to be a #8 in his day so he understands and welcomes ruggers. From the field go W on 30 past 35 and the second or so exit north, just past the city center is Montgomery. Go north on Montgomery and just past Vending Nuts look for Bull and Bush on west side (that is left side after turning right on MOntgomery for props and hookers). Nick invites us and though a bit worried whether we were a low-life club, but I lied and said "gentlemen all". Buddy is gonna do a chalk session. Rumor has it those arrive before 700 PM the first beer is on the club. All those interested in rugby come on out and meet the club.

Hi, hope you are all doing well. Stumbled across your site while looking for another one - very impressive. Its hard to think that we have not had another tour over to you since 1998 when we won the lot, hopefully we can get that altered. Get in contact & we can try to sort it out and get a team across again.

Wish you guys all the best for the forth coming season and hope that you do well both on and off the pitch.

Best wishes

Many thanks for the great support you gave us in the final. I can only guess on how tough it was to lose in the semi-final by only three points - it should have been the final. I want you to know that we would not have won the National Championship if it was not for the great rivalry we have developed over the last few years which has made us a better team and the example you guys set last year.
best regards for next season - I am sure that we will meet in the final of at least one championship

Why We Play
In our country, true teams rarely exist ... social barriers and personal ambitions have reduced athletes to dissolute cliques, or individuals thrown together for mutual profit. Yet, these rugby players, with their muddied, cracked bodies are struggling to hold onto a sense of humanity, that we in America have lost and are unlikely to regain. The game may be only to move a ball forward on a dirt field, but the task can be accomplished with an unshaken joy, and its memory will be a permanent delight. The men who play on that rugby field are more alive than too many of us will ever be.

Recent (and hopefully final) guest book signing here in Cape Town, SA. Pretty nice place, lots of nude sunbathers, so basically I dig it. Just recently hooked up with young Sean Nagle in Stellenbosch. He has a broken hand and still showing us a good time. What a great dude. Sloth is still hanging with and suprisingly he can drink like a 20 year old. Luckily for the cape he is keeping his clothes on. Apparently the Atlantic is a bit cooler than the Indian. He did do a 65 meter bungee( I will be doing 216m) but didn`t dive with the sharks (like I will be). Tommorrow the wine route (yea me) and the next day THE WORLD!!!!
I guess this week it is all up to Ft Worth, good luck play hard and work on defending that national title this weekend.Everyone also needs to go out of there way to meet Gerry, he is the guy I stayed with in Vanderbijlpark and he loves Texas (thanks to me) With the rand being just a shade stronger than the peso everyone help him out and buy him a beer, a shot or barbeque.
Cheers

Mclaury has joined the tour of South Africa and I am currently kicking it in Durban with Ben (and Rick for a couple of days) and the surf bunnies. Durban is very laid back and english speaking so I am getting along well here too. This South Africa place is an excellent place, we must organize a tour. However I did see the scariest thing in the world here...Mclaury had one to many scotches and decided to go skinnydip in the Indian ocean with a rugby team. Yes it was a sight to behold as some under 21 team from the Northen Transvall and one man known lovingly as "Sloth" decided to go swimming a la birthday suit! Cheers and the last installment will be from the Cape.
Good luck against Springfield and I will see you soon.

Headline: Al Gore Demands Re-score of Rugby Match

I DEMAND a re-score. Fort Worth RFC defeated my club, the Tennessee Losers RFC, but all the scores are not in!

My fullback couldn`t properly read the touch lines. He has been disenfranchised. He also had trouble distinguishing the goal posts from the light posts. His kicks need to be declared good, or I will sue.

I demand the referee re-score the match, or I`ll take Fort Worth RFC to court!

I won`t let Fort Worth RFC thwart the will of the rugby fans. I as Al Gore, will fight for you.

Sincerely,
Al Gore

Those who have been calling me interested in joining the team for practice, from this Tues on practice is at Rockwood, not Gateway. At Rockwood, being a softball outfield, we learn our secret elliptic running style which baffles others who practice on a mere standard rugby pitch.

Thanks to everyone who came out and played at our tournament. Looks like everyone had fun and I trust the competetion gave a good challenge to you all.

Thanks to the TCU team for helping out and especially the important help at the close Sunday when the temp went back up over 100. Appreciated.

Thanks to all the FTWRFC folks, especially Mike Naydon who was a superman, Bots making sure all was done to satisfaction, Keith for the organization of games, Darren for dangerous night duty, Dan Rosen for pitching in without anyone asking, and Rooney for watching the till. Much appreciated. The whole club pitched in at the right time. Thanks to all!

I have played regular Rugby on two Tours in Texas - Houston, San Antonio and Austin, and in `85 - Houston, Galveston and Austin - winning the Pabst Trophy on both occasions in Austin!

With Golden Oldies, we have a link with the Texas XXX`s and Longhorns.

However. I am recovering from a below knee amputation and want to contact any amputee - arm or leg - who may be interested in playing in a World Golden Oldies Festival in a couple of years????

Hats off to FT worth!!! Great job in representing our lonestar state and making it to the final 4; too bad we couldn`t matched it failing to make the top 8 by 2 pts thus eliminating Woodlands.
